The Fisher-Price iXL Handheld Interactive Learning System is the newest electronic learning toy to hit the market just in time for the 2011 holiday selling season. The iXL is really 6 six different devices in one and comes preloaded with software for each of the six applications right out of the box. Just like the Vtech VReader, the iXL encourages children ages 3 – 7 years of age to learn to read and expand their vocabulary. One of the biggest advantages that the iXL has over the VReader is ease of use. Children will have no problem navigating between the various applications and will love the idea of loading their favorite music.

In 2009 and 2010, Zhu Zhu Pets were the hottest toy on the market for little girls and boys. Fast forward to 2011 and Cepia has introduced a new version of Zhu Zhu Pets called Kung Zhu Battle Hamsters. Made exclusively for boys, Kung Zhu Battle Hamsters are going to be just as big this holiday season and it’s easy to see why. Unlike the cute and cuddly Zhu Zhu Hamsters, Kung Zhu hamsters are fierce fighting machines. These hamsters have an edgier appearance along with battle gear and combat armor. There are two different kinds of Kung Zhu Battle Hamsters, the Special Forces group and the Ninja Warrior group. Only one group will be victorious as they fight to the bitter end.

It’s no surprise that Elmo Live — based on the Sesame Street favorite — is set to be one of the biggest toys of the year. Just like Tickle Me Elmo did in years past, this new Elmo is the toy kids are going to be begging for.

Elmo Live is made by Fisher-Price, and it’s being called the most advanced Elmo toy ever. The last Elmo that came close was the “Extreme Edition.” This one takes movement and interaction to a whole new level.

The Squinkies Cupcake Surprise Bakeshop is made by Blip Toys and is recommended for kids ages 4 and above.
It works just like a mini toy vending machine. Simply drop in a play coin, turn the knob, and out pops a surprise Squinkie toy in a little plastic bubble.

The set comes with 9 Squinkies to start, but you can collect more — it is capable of holding up to 15 Squinkies. Open the bakeshop and you’ll find a tiny bakery scene with pies and cakes to play with. However, there are small parts in this set, thus it is not appropriate for kids under 3 years of age due to choking hazard.

If you’re looking for the toy everyone will be talking about, meet Sing-A-Ma-Jigs from Fisher-Price, a division of Mattel. Fisher-Price usually makes toys that appeal to very young babies and toddlers, but this particular one is breaking that mold. It’s quirky, catchy, and surprisingly addictive for all ages.

I saw it firsthand at a local department store. Kids, teens, even adults were picking them up, pressing the belly and hear them sing. These little plush guys are impossible to ignore. These quirky little plush toys have serious cross-age appeal!
